The new Q1 is equipped with XMOS platform to support decoding of more formats with outstanding performance and makes it capable of decoding up to 384 kHz /32bit PCM as well as up to DSD256. It is then combined with two separate crystal oscillators that are designed to handle different sampling rates to achieve better accuracy in digital-to-analog conversion. The new Q1 uses the AKM AK4452 DAC, which decodes high sampling rate formats with high signal-to-noise ration and low distortion. The headphone amplifier chip in the Q1 is the OPA926 and is the same chip used in the X7 Mark II’s AM3a amp module. The metal exterior of the Q1 gives it a premium feel but also effectively protects the electronics inside from electromagnetic experience specially when used with an iPhone to ensure sound quality is not compromised. It includes both 3.5mm single-ended and 2.5mm balanced headphone outputs. In addition, the device features a switch for adjusting gain as well as a switch for adjusting the bass to give the Q1 extended flexibility.
